After a week off from rugby, the U16s returned to face Currie at Mackie Academy playing fields. A strong start saw us take the lead and only a short break in the scoring before halftime, took us in at the half in control. A tough defensive effort from Currie made it difficult for us to get scoring again but after some brilliant team tries and some solo tries thrown in for good mix the team began to share the ball and no fewer than 8 different try scorers with Brian scoring 3, Finley with 2 and Fraser also scoring 2.
Player of the match - Charlie Moody. Brilliant work at the breakdown made it difficult for Currie to keep ball, excellent tackle technique and also adding to the try list with a good solo effort along with great leadership on the pitch.
Special mentions to Calum, Fraser, Rory, Freddie and George who kept our pack moving and began to show the structure is working in both attack and defence. Finlay also for showing how much of an impact he has on the team and strong carrying during the game.
Seb and Logan controlled the game excellently and the midfield combo of Ethan and cohen along with Brian made easy work of the defence at times. Also big shoutout to Eddie on his first try for the club and to Sam for playing out of position for majority of the game and giving it his all for the team to succeed.
Big thanks to the parent support and Currie for making the trip north.
Alexander Beveridge, U16s Lead Coach and Club DO
