Mackie U13s welcomed Falkirk U13s to Redcloak on a day that brightened perfectly for rugby, as early clouds gave way to sunshine just in time for kick-off.
From the outset, Falkirk showed great spirit. Despite being a developing side with several new players, they started with real intent—pressing hard, and refusing to let Mackie settle. Their determination kept the contest competitive, and they continually looked to adapt, playing smart rugby against a well-drilled Mackie team.
Mackie, however, demonstrated the benefits of continuity and teamwork. Their cohesion and support play allowed them to build phases effectively, and once gaps appeared, they capitalised well. The first half saw Mackie take control, running in a series of well-worked tries to establish a strong lead—going in at the break approximately 36–0 ahead.
Finlay Boyd was a standout in attack, crossing the line multiple times with strong, direct running. He was well supported by Kamsi, Leon, Finlay K, and Haz, who all added to the scoreboard. Haz also took on kicking duties, successfully converting 4.
To Falkirk’s credit, they never dropped their heads. The second half saw them rewarded for their effort, scoring two well-earned tries—both converted—to get themselves on the scoreboard. Their resilience and willingness to keep playing positive rugby, especially after a long journey, was commendable.
Mackie continued to play with confidence and structure, adding further tries to bring the final score to 58–14.
