Final NE Minis League Game
This last fixture against Pelicans certainly offered plenty of GASPS as the squad ran hot and cold, showed pockets of the right mind set and squad brilliance in their narrow defeat.
It was a shaking start where the squad's game awareness (G), competitiveness (A), tackle (S), rugby speed (P) and optimism (S) were not shining brightly in the beautiful Spring sunshine falling over the pitches at Countesswells.
As the game progressed the squad members began to use their rugby, brain and physical skills to show they could beat defences and get the ball back.
Half way through the first half, 3 super subs came on to give them the opportunity to "play a half".
Half time and it was a take a knee, take a drink to think and take a pep talk from Frankiepitchsideconsultant.
3 supersubs were rotated again for a more optimistic start and again half way through the 2nd half 3 supersubs were made again to provide some tenacity and bring the game to a positive conclusion.
Final score.
Pelicans 7 : 5 Mackie.
The squad finished off with some serious and not so serious squad photos and that infamous Macki chant.
Remember your training offers a Learning culture, Exploration for you to find your own solutions, Adaptive activities to offer choices, Reflection on what went well/ what to work on and No one is the same as you all learn at different speeds.
Perhaps not the defeat snatched from the jaws of victory they were expecting but from the darkess comes the light and it has offered plenty of LEARNing to think about at the next training session!
Thanks to our hosts for a good, contested match, parents for getting the players there and being that 9th player on the touchlines.
Remember to ask your rugby brain what is the one thing I need to stop doing and start doing to improve my rugby skills?
