Martin Frame - P7 Lead Coach

Here at Mackie Rugby Club, we pride ourselves on having the right volunteers in place, and our success wouldn’t be possible without the tireless efforts of them. This month, we are delighted to recognise Martin Frame as our Volunteer of the Month!

For over a decade Martin, either as a parent helper from the touchlines, or a lead coach within the touchlines, has radiated rugby's core values and applied many different coaching principles for many a weekend's training session, game fixture or Club Tournament.

It has been noted over the years that Martin's STEP approach to the planned weekend activities has become an accurate measurement and detailed list of all the features in the playing areas in which the P4 to P7 play in. He is always at the playing fields bright and early, where he surveys and measures out the Space for which the planned Task(s) are to be carried out, using every piece of Equipment available so that the Players can continually improve their skills and game sense.

The current P7 squad were asked to list the most common phrases Martin would use during the sessions and games. "Always pushing to do our best, positive and encouraging" echo his focus on the process rather than the outcome for the individuals and the whole squad.

Throughout Martin's time with the club, he has always been honest and fair, enthusiastic for the game, shown respect for all those involved in the game, and abided by the Age Grade Law Variations.

Martin has said at the end of many seasons that "I am done!" and that "I am retiring at the end of this season (2025)" and perhaps this final quote from the P7 squad summarises his rugby core values and coaching styles.

"The best person we know"

Please join us in congratulating Martin and thanking him for his contribution to our club. Finally, let’s give Martin a big round of applause and make sure to thank him in person at the next game or event!
