Having spent a few weeks gaining confidence in the contact, Andywackysocks2 took the squad back to beating the defence in attack.
It was corner ball to warm up those muscles and get the hearts pumping and squad were quick to take onboard the feedback of pass, move and stay connected when in attack and to zig and zag when trying to evade the tag team.
Next up the squad were on literally on their knees but with hips square to the try line, arms out in the long reach, shoulders ready for the rotate and Superman hands to finish the pass.
This was made chilly hot when Andywackysocks2 and Brodiethezogger then made the squad repeat the activity but at walking speed. The squad were Optimistic and towards the end were beginning to see that when they passed, moved and stayed connected they could get the rugby ball around the and behind the defence.
With the help of the short notice super sub scrum half parent the activity was made chilly spicy as the players had to run on to the pass, keep those long reach arms out, rotate those shoulders and finish with those Superman hands to move the rugby ball into space whilst Andywackysocks2 and Brodiethezogger brought the defence up closer to the attacking line.
After a drink to think the squad were back on the playing area for some 3 v 2 and different coloured scoring areas.
To begin with the squad were running with the rugby ball to the corner colour called out by Andywackysocks2.
After some feedback the players got Creative and started to Self-Organise themselves which allowed them to pass, move, stay connected and beat the defence in attack.
The game was made chilly hot when the try scorer was swapped over to defence.
To help strengthen up those hands the squad were tasked with completing the "train tig" activity where tagged players had to join onto the train, maintain a strong hand grip onto the shirts and to communicate with each to make sure the "train" didn't become uncoupled and split off into different directions!
As with all things rugby, the squad were then put through the earlier passing activity except this time the pass was left to right. Andywackysocks2 was delighted to see that perhaps this was even better than when they passed right to left. If the squad can do this under pressure then it will be difficult for opposition to get the rugby ball back!
A special thanks must to go Brodiethezogger as he took the squad through various different core and stamina exercises throughout the session.
Andywackysocks2 makes no apologies for talking about the "exploding toilet jumping" to improve explosive power or any player tops that got muddy when they were army crawling to show the ground was their friend!
Remember to ask your rugby brain what is the one thing I need to stop doing and the one thing I need to start doing to improve my rugby skills in attack?
