Great Training Session and Open Day for the Minis/Micros/Tots

Great Training Session and Open Day for the Minis/Micros/Tots

Nicole Robertson24 Aug 2024 - 20:00

What a start to the season!

The Sun was out, the skies were blue and everyone was chomping at the bit to get the rugby going.

Dustythefitnesspainmaster and Frankiepitchsideconsultant got the players warmed up and then it was two small sided games, kicking in one and passing in the other. After a short water break it was time to swap over.

Next up it was a bibs v non-bibs game on a mahoosive playing area where the players were encouraged to put into practice what they had learned in the small sided games... and they did not disappoint.

They remembered to stay connected, to go forwards and pass the ball into space when attacking and to try different kicks when in attack or defence.

Next up Gareththedefencecoach and Frankiepitchsideconsultant set up an activity to help with "the ruck". It was toes ground bound, heels sky high and head in neutral whilst travelling over the tackle bags.

Water break and then a final game with the biggest rugby ball they had ever seen.
This time the players needed to listen to the game coach call "ruck and no hands" to allow them to put into practice what they had been doing in the rucking activity.
They didn't like the ball but it did allow them to slow down at the breakdown, form the ruck correctly and then decide where to attack next.

Our 2 newbies got stuck in during the whole session and both scored runningtastic tries on their debut games.

Remember to ask your rugby brain what is the one thing I need to stop doing and the one thing I need to start doing to improve my rugby skills?

Rucktastic Peeps!
