Mackie Mackie Mackie Oi Oi Oi

Everyone from parents, to players, to coaches, to volunteers were up early to ensure everything was in places for the Mackie home tournament.
The squad were in good spirits and the Mackie red wall was pumped and primed ready for no breaches within their defence. The squad started the tournament's first game and showed a mixture of attack at speed, pressure in defence and kick and chase. The game finished 7:1 against Garioch.
Next up were Deeside. The both teams scored tries at each end however the squad put up some great pressure in defence by displaying great safe tackle techniques and contested the possession by rucking either in defence or attack. The game finished with the squad winning 5:2.
During the time to decompress and refuel with food and water the squad had the chance to talk about what was going well and what they needed to work on. Some activities were put together by the coaching squad and the squad were then ready for their 3rd game of the tournament against Aberdeen Grammar. This provided some solid pressure in defence and lightening attack at speed. The game finished with the squad winning 6 : 3.
Next up were Aberdeen Wanderers where the squad went in at half time 1 : 3 down. A short team talk and with a more focussed and joined up run of play the squad dug deep to finish the game 4 : 3 winners.
Winning all the games meant the squad's final game against Kinross would indeed by like a cup final match as they too had won all their games. The squad huddled together, let out the mighty "Mackie Mackie Mackie" war cry and the squad went out on the pitch pumped and primed ready to take on their opponents.
Kinross had shown skill, power and ability throughout all their games by using excellent safe tackle techniques, contesting the possession through effective rucking and kept the ball alive with quick hands whilst attacking the spaces. However it was like every squad member had kept their best performance till their last game where individual commitment, whole team effort and the 3 simple coaching messages all came together to allow the squad to take the well deserved 4:2 win. Scenes of elation, fist pumping, body slams, hand clapping form players, parents and coaches immediately ensued.
A quick debrief and the whole squad packed up and moved down to the main tent area for the prizing giving awards. Each age group were issued runners up medals and winners trophies and medals all of which was met with much respect as everyone within the rugby community clapped and cheered the recipients.
Thanks must go to everyone at the club for their contributions however big or small for organising the event which allowed the squad to show off the skills they have developed over the season thus far and ,in this case, ensured the silverware stayed at Mackie for this year.
Finally, thanks also goes out to family and friends who got the players to the event and who were pitch side to cheer on the squad as they certainly were the 11th, 12th, 13th, ... players on the pitch.
