Glorious day with a team on top form!

A Virtually full strength Mackie Squad travelled to Ellon. A last minute rejig of the tournament structure meant that all the P7 teams would complete a single round robin competition.
From the off the team put into action 2 key messages from training - Attack at speed and Pressure in defence. A first close match ended with Mackie defeating Deeside A 4 - 3. The team moved up a gear with their next match against Deeside B ending in another 4 - 1 win. Pop passes from the floor and good rucking with fast transition into attack meant Mackie put in dominant displays in their next games beating Ellon and Aberdeen Wanderers 7 - 2 for both games.
A loss against Aberdeen Grammar could potentially have let the tournament slip away from Mackie however the team rose to the occasion in a crunch fixture in which the teams could not be split and a final score of 3 - 3 was recorded.
Unfortunately the final match Mackie v Garioch had to be forfeited which left Mackie undefeated on the day and overall winners. Izzy picked up the trophy on behalf of the whole team.
Everyone in the team should be proud of their efforts as we know parents and coaches certainly were. A glorious day in the Sun only matched by a Mackie team on top form.
Thanks goes out to family and friends who got the players to the event and who were pitch side to cheer on the squad.
