Try fest Robbie brought his kicking boots

Match Report by Eric Lindsay
Back to business today after the Easter holidays, the boys were well up for this re scheduled match against Grammar. It had been a hard few days for many of the boys coming off the back of the KNT camp, but they hit the ground running. The first try was scored from a good line break from Nathan Grundy, with an offload as he took the contact to Liam Dreelan who then made a sprint for the line only to be tackled short, fortunately Robbie was on his shoulder and recovered the ball to score, Robbie also converted his try. The second try came from some good probing runs from the new center partnership of Liam and Fraser with an offload to Eoin Vaughan who took on the defense with a good angled run, took the contact and offloaded to Liam who scored under the posts. With a successful conversion from Robbie. The forwards and backs were interchanging well as the game settled down, with some good work at the break down from the forwards, and great defensive tackles from Levi Peddie who was in no mood for letting anyone pass him, this was the theme for the whole squad who worked tirelessly in defense as well as attack. The third try came from a good turn over ball from Levi who passed to Nathan who took the ball on with a devastating line break and had the strength to offload in contact, to Robbie who ran in his second try which he converted. Mackie now started to go through the gears with sustained pressure winning the set pieces and working through a couple of phases which allowed Nathan to run 50m to score the fourth try duly converted by Robbie. The second period saw Grammar score two try’s, after a few dodgy penalty decisions and wayward scrums which went against Mackie the boys re focused , and at the following ruck Euan Robertson turned over the ball and passed it out to Mathew Davis who galloped for the line to score the fifth try under the posts, converted by Robbie. the sixth try came from good work behind the scrum with a line break from Fraser who then passed to Eoin who took the defense one way only to cut back inside and open the pitch up with a good angled run then passed to Liam who ran in his second try, at a cost as he came off injured .The seventh try also came from good work behind the scrum when Ethan broke the grammar defensive line and made some good yards with a pass to Archie who also charged through the defense and offloaded to Eoin who ran in and scored converted by Robbie. The third period started with grammar catching the Mackie boys napping and scored under the posts. This only spurred the boys on even more with a great leaping catch from the kick off by Fraser who ran the ball up to the half way line then passed to Levi who offloaded to a rampaging Nathan who ran it in from the half way line to score his second try under the posts, the conversion was missed by Robbie. Grammar re started the game caught by Fraser with a neat inside step and hand off passed the ball to Ethan who ran 50m to score under the posts converted by Robbie. Just as before Grammar re started and the ball was collected by Archie who was tackled and presented the ball well and it was duly accepted by Eoin who passed the ball to Ethan and like the previous try he ran 50m to score under the posts and Robbie stepped up and duly converted . The game settled down again with all the boys working hard for both their respective sides, Grammar ran in their fourth try which signaled the end of a great team display from Mackie.
