A warm sunny day at Redloack in November...... we were very lucky.
This turned into a combined S1/S2 match as both Mackie and Wanderers were short of players at s1. Thanks to all the Mackie s2, we had 17, so a great turnout.
We played 3 * 30 minutes to make sure everyone got game time. Thanks to those players we lent to Shire/Wand. You made a nuisance of yourselves, so well done.
We started pretty well, executed individual skills well, with some evidence of guard and shield and running of backs moves. The scrum was solid, and the ruck area much improved. However, as time went on we lost shape and resorted to individuals scoring tries rather than working as a team to score tires. This disjointed play also helped to create gaps in defense, which coupled with some pretty feeble tackling meant that we leaked rather more points than we should have. The constant change of players and mix with S1's did make keeping shape more difficult.
Overall, the whole match day cycle is improving. Most players now arrive appropriately dressed ....he who blamed his father for turning up in trackies now knows it's his responsibility to read emails not his fathers. You warmed up well, took the game seriously, listened to the coaching points and did the warm down well. I am particularly pleased that players are now contributing relevant points to the team play analysis discussion.
Finally, a thank you to all the parents who organised the catering and to Gerry for doing the ref duty.
