Hard game, competitive rugby

This was a great game of rugby to watch with some great individual skills from both sides. As a joint S1/S2, there was some good team play, with none of the S1 looking out of place with the S2's.

Scrum was stable and we collected our fair share of ball won at the lineout. They committed lots of players to the ruck, so we did better than previously to win a good proportion of the ball at the breakdown.

Tackle in the tight areas was very good.

With lots of players out of position in the backs, again a good display.

Things we need to improve on are:
a) Once again defensive line was stationary rather than moving up. While it is good that there is a defensive line, we need to get it to move up quickly. We leaked too many tries due to letting their strong runners have space to run. Credit to them for us being dull.

b) In attack we need to make use of space and pass the ball wide, then support the wide player, not think we need to go ourselves all the time.

c) Some players need to get fitter...there was quite a bit of puffing and panting by a few!

d)On penalties, can anyone explain why we always pass it to one player and then let him get isolated?

Overall, you beat a side that had not lost for 18 months, very well done.
