A convincing win over Grammar, but Stirling still just out of reach

A lot of hard work has been done on the training ground. Thanks along the way to Colin Mair the first team coach for a defensive organisation session and to the U15's for a game of scrag to practice attack and defence.

We played Grammar first and put three quick tries on the board. Positive from the start all the work on organisation and coming on to the ball at speed paid off. Great handling from the backs created space and opportunity out wide, which was exploited well by the wingers. We were something like 4 tries up in the first half and five tries up in the second half. Credit to Grammar, they did not give up, but we were just too powerful as individuals and as a team, now that players have learned to run onto the ball at speed.

Only negative was as in previous games we were consistently second best at the rucks.

We played Stirling second. This was again a very close match, but Stirling were just that bit better. The core of our problem was loosing almost every breakdown, so we spent most of the time on the defensive. Now the defence was very good, great individual tackling and well organised, but Rugby is a game that is hard to win if you don't have the ball. More rucking drills coming up me thinks!
