A much improved performance by the squad, close but not quite there yet.

Round 2 of our triple header involved the long trip down to Stirling. To play both Grammar and Stirling. Stirling played Grammar first, and beat them comfortably and then played us. The boys were much better organised. Took the warm up seriously and were ready once we got on the pitch. By half time we were 3 tries to nil up after some great work by forwards and backs. We were much more aggressive, and much better organised than in the last game. However at half time, we had a crucial injury, one of our 2 best tacklers and Stirling put all their best players on. They have a large squad and had underestimated us. The second half was frustrating and we leaked 4 tries. We tiered and they started to run round us out wide. However coaches were really proud of the way the boys stuck at it.

Second game for us was against Grammar. We lost this 2 tries to 1 in a close fought match, and along the way we butchered three scoring opportunities near the end of the game. This was almost more frustrating than loosing to Stirling. Things that have improved are defensive organisation, general aggression and the tackle. Scrum and Lineout are OK, but ruck, line speed, and what to do at penalties all need more work.

As a coach I went home really please with the way the squad had improved and with their attitude to the day.

Just one sour note.....the coach driver complained about the mess the coach was left in and I had to give everyone a dressing down at the next training session. PLEASE don't litter the bus!
