Mackie took the first kick. Both sides appeared nervous but the Mackie backs quickly spotted a gap in the Moray defence and scored an opportunistic try within the first 5 minutes, converted by Ronan Leitch.

At the restart Moray took the ball into Mackie's 22 but Mackie regained possession via a penalty. The Mackie forwards subsequently showed their strength in the scrum and the backs again took the ball to the Moray try line but this time the opposition were ready to defend and turned the ball over although continued Mackie pressure forced Moray to ground the ball. Following the 5 yard scrum and some fumbling by the backs Mackie scored a second try.

At the restart a further attack by Mackie was rebuffed by Moray who kicked the ball into touch. Mackie took the ball in the lineout and attacked again. A spilled ball was picked up by Moray but a huge tackle by Mark New stopped the opposition in their tracks. A determined defence by Moray close to the try line eventually broke down allowing Mackie to score a third try, converted by Ronan Leitch.

At the restart, Mackie turned over the ball and some pacy running and fast hands from the Mackie backs took them deep into opposition territory before being pushed into touch.

Keen to score some points, the Moray backs looked dangerous as they found pace and space to put serious pressure on Mackie. Thankfully Mackie regained possession of the ball just before the half time whistle.

Following the restart Mackie continued to dominate the game by taking the ball in the lineout and scoring a further try. (Tom Burt)

A penalty awarded to Moray following a scrum was taken quickly by the opposition, catching Mackie unawares. There followed a prolonged attack on the Mackie try line and Moray took the ball from the scrum to the undefended blind side to score their first try.

The restart saw Mackie on the attack again, but a penalty to Moray allowed the opposition to gain significant ground before being pushed into touch. Moray regained possession, continued toward the line, and despite Mackie's defence were rewarded with a second try.

At the restart Moray continued to pressure Mackie, but Mackie resisted and turned over the ball to score an Ashtonesque try between the posts (Mark New), converted by Ronan Leitch

Undeterred, the Moray side refused to give up and found a gap in the Mackie defence to score a third try

In the final minutes, Mackie put the seal on a great afternoon with a sixth try.

A good performance by Mackie with the forwards dominating in the scrum and the lineout, and great ball handling skills by the backs, against a tenacious Moray side.
