Tough day at the office, where experience told in the end.
Going through a complete team rebuilding process in the top regional league isn't something this coach would advise. It was never going to be easy and there was always going to be some dark days. When you have a bunch of confident 17,18,19 year olds along with a couple of old heads in a team, you can be sure nothing's going to be dull and certainly not predictable.
This was always going to be a tough game and was always going to be decided by who won the forwards battle, unfortunately our young squad wasn't quite up to the challenge this time. Credit where credit's due the young team never gave up and the final quarter of the game saw them camped in the visitors half. Unfortunately having the composure to make that final pass under pressure wasnt quite there and several scoring opportunities went a begging.
Confidence is a big part of the game and this bunch of youngsters showed they have it with their never say die attitude.
This could make all the difference when the final run in at the tail end of the season comes along.
The guys get a few weeks off and a well earned rest over the Xmas period before the hustle and bustle of league rugby starts again on 9th January when we welcome Glenrothes to Redcloak.
