Mackie representatives present to vote against Grangemouth proposal

MAFPRFC Chair Bob Richmond and Secretary Leslie Brown travelled to BT Murrayfield on Saturday 20th August to attend the Annual General Meeting of the Scottish Rugby Union.
Mackie being a Full Member Club has two votes at the meeting and despite the early departure from Stonehaven to be there for the 10:30 start it is important that the Club attend and has it say on the direction and future of Club Rugby in Scotland.
To this end, I am happy to report that the Grangemouth RFC tabled motion supported by many of the Midlands Clubs in Caledonia 1 to further regionalise Caley was whole-heartedly defeated by 171-21 votes.
The other major issue to be decided at the meeting was the election of the Vice President who will shadow the new President Rob Flockhart for the next two year before taking office in Season 2018-19. The contest was close but after the secret ballot Dee Bradbury from Oban Lorne secured more than 50% of those present on the 1st Vote and was duly elected.
