The Mackie Mini's took squads at P4, P5, P6 and P7 age-groups south for a Friarton bridge challenge to the annual Kinross mini rugby tournament

The kids were to take on a few clubs not yet encountered this year and to represent the NE Scotland in the first competitive tournament of the season for the kids.

Strong opposition was provided by the hosts Kinross, Livingston, Hillfoots, Dunfermline and Perthshire and Mackie were to have their work cut out to come away with anything from the days competition against such quality opposition. As it turned out though, the children all stepped up to the mark and never took a backward step with the P4's and P7's running out tournament champions (both age groups were undefeated all day) and the P5's and P6's both being closely beaten into a very creditable 2nd place and silver medals.

The individual age-groups records for the day were P4: Won 5 P5: Won 3, Drawn 1, Lost 1 P6: Won 3, Drawn 1, Lost 1 P7:Won 5

A very good start to the competitive season but its too early yet to take the foot off the gas so its now its back to the training ground to continue to work hard and improve for the next fixtures coming up in a few weeks time against Lathallan, and then the Ellon festival.

Thanks and appreciation goes to Kinross RFC for a well run tournament and great hospitality thoroughly enjoyed by all.
