Spring Saturday Sessions

SATURDAY TRAINING

2 weekends in a row with the spring sunshine and a full turn out from the squad.

Train tig looked like a lot of train engines with trailing carriages who did their best to keep the hinge foundational movement and strong hand grabs.

This was swiftly followed by a full on game with the non bib player from each team not being allowed to be tackled.

Next, half the squad carried out the tracking before tackling activity which allowed players to keep on their disco dancing toes so that they could put the boot in the hoop. The other half of the squad entered the Murrayfield Stadium which allowed players to practice their tackling skills, with boot in the hoop, eye to tigh or attack the black shorts, cheek to cheek, shoulder boulder, bands of steel and back on the feet so you can compete. The half squads then swapped over activities.

It was rugby ball down and water on before the next game started. This allowed the players to drink so they could think.

The next full on game allowed the coaches to see if the players were trying to put into practice the key skill they had received as feedback throughout the session. To make it even more interesting, points were awarded for number of passes made before getting over the try line.

The session finished with some "no pain, no gain" session. The coaches tried to show the players a new movement that would build up "those guns" and everyone ended laughing as Ross face planted into the dirt as Andy forgot to tell him he had wait until he had been told to move forward. Remember peeps, rugby is a noisy game and team mates need to talk to each other.
