The sun was out, the skies were blue and the morning temperature increased as the session went on.
Some of the squad were tasked to get those muscles warmed up and the hearts beating faster for the while squad.
Dustythefitnesspainmaster then took them on a fitness session and he wasn't kidding that everyone was to jog not walk!
Some of the other coaches needed a rest break!
After a water break it was a 6 a side game of touch where it was great to see the players remembering the key skills from P5 with plenty of staying connected and passing the rugby ball into space and topped up wth some awesome disco feet (evasion) allowing players to stress the defending team.
Short water break and the squad were split into 2 activities to help with their kicking led by Frankiepitchsideconsultant and rucking led by Andywackysocks2 ... both of which are brand new to the P6 squad!
The ruck around the clock activity allowed players to get those toes ground bound, heels sky high and heads in neutral.
The kick, attack or defend activity allowed the players to practice those sky high spiral kicks or ground hugging grubber kicks.
Another water break and the players swapped over activities.
Final water break and it was time to put on their serious game faces except this time they knew the coaches were looking for those key messages from the rucking and kicking they been practicing earlier.
They showed just how beautiful our game can be with plenty of opportunities to find the best space either through, around or behind the defence (kicking opportunities), stressing defenders with evasive footwork, competing for the ball (rucking opportunities) and getting back into the game by getting back on their feet.
Remember to ask your rugby brain what is the one thing I need to stop doing and the one thing I need to start doing to improve my rugby skills?
RuckTASTIC Peeps!
