Great day for a game of rugby the sun was shining and the pitch was good to firm.
Today’s game was billed as a development game to give our new boys and fringe players a full game prior to breaking up for the summer. Due to injuries and players being unavailable we had to draft in a couple of S2's so a big thank you to Oscar and Stephen.
We played many players out of position today and it seemed to work well. Aidan who normally plays on the wing, was put in at fullback he warmed to the position well and made some try saving tackles and broke into the line with his usual blistering pace, which got the attention of the opposition coaches on the side line.
Robbie played well at inside centre smashing through the gain line which earned him a few score’s.
Nathan looked like he was enjoying himself in the back row with two powerful runs down the touch line one after another, I thought he would be needing oxygen after the first one but no he just kept going.
Oscar and Fraser were forming a great partnership in the back row doing all the graft Oscar did really well and did not look out of place one bit playing up a year.
Max and Callum put in a hard shift , I though Callum was in for a score but he unfortunately got held up inches from the line resulting in a head knock which ended his day.
All in all the boys fronted up well , we need to work on tackling and body positions when rucking. Good start for pre-season.
