Our 2nd weekend back since the holidays and the 2019 training programme where it was really good to see you as players and a squad putting into practice what you are learning in activities into the games you play. We, the game coaches, can see your improvements.
The session started with a whole game of bibs v non bibs where both teams equally played to their best abilities.
Next the "Murrayfield" tackling activity helped 8 of you gain confidence in your tackle or tackle hold and the others in the passing activity saw how to create 3 v 2, create the open space, pass the ball into the open space and allow the outside shoulder player to score tries in the corners.
As always, ask you rugby brain what is the 1 thing I need to stop doing and the 1 thing I need to start doing to get better with tackling or passing the rugby ball in order to improve your rugby skills.
Next it was back into a whole game where the bibs and non bibs put into practice some the feedback they had received from the activities. Great try saving tackles were made, great try scoring opportunities taken, awesome support play and off loads helped the attacking play and a real focussed attitude was on display by all players on both teams.
Finally to finish off with there was the "no pain, no gain, fun 4 fitness" session. Until today, none of the game coaches had ever seen a "bear crawl" backwards but is certainly made us giggle a little.
Lastly we, the game coaches, would encourage you to rather than contest what the game coach decision was, to asking the game coach to explain the decision made during the game as this will help you understand the laws of the game and improve your rugby thinking brain power.
