Saturday Training - Christmas Special
Mackie Mackie Mackie Oi Oi Oi
The squad arrived with Santa hats, tinsel boots, tinsel pockets and plenty of Christmas Cheer. It was straight into a pass the rugby ball activity which had them running across the grid and making sure everyone got back in the right place to start the next run.
It was ball down, water on and into the first of the Christmas games where some of the bigger "players" joined in. The game coaches seemed to be a lot slower than the squad players. Ho Ho Ho!
After ball down, water on it was "Murrayfield Mania" and there was such a clatter as the players had to run to the either end, collect the rugby ball and attack the space or close down the space and make that try saving tackle. It got really interesting when multiple player numbers was called and the "every everyone in" call.
Again it was ball down, water on and time for the squad to feel the pain so that they could gain. It was a case of now dash away, dash away, dash away all as there were plenty of piggy back relays and wheel barrow races. The players were still full of the beans and ready for next Christmas game! I suspect it might have had something to do with one of the pitch side supporters supplying them with sweeties.
During the game the bibs with fewer numbers were soring more tries than the non bibs! They must have been attacking the space, popping, then passing and then attacking the space again much more cleanly than the non bibs!
A Christmas request of rugby rounders was heard and "Mr Chicken Head" set up the rounders square and it was game on! Some awesome kicking, running and passing was on show and the game end in a draw. Mr Chicken Head used his rugby playing skills of charging down the rugby ball when he received it at full pelt when it was kicked by one of the squad players. The other game coaches laughed and their round bellies shook like bowls of jellies.
Big thanks to all parents for getting the players to training on time and for being pitch side supporters.
You should be able to see the squad action photos on this website.
This was the last Saturday training of the year so from Ross, Steve and I, enjoy the time you spend with those important to you and Merry Christmas to all and to all a Goodnight.
Rugby Tastic peeps!
