Kinross Mini Rugby Tournament 2015
The Kinross RFC Mini Rugby Tournament is on Sunday 4th October 2015.
The following clubs will be taking part: Melrose, West of Scotland, Linlithgow, Dundee Eagles (Dundee
HS), Mackie and Kinross.
Kick off will be 11am.
Changing Facilities
There are 4 changing rooms for use. Clubs will be assigned to a changing room and the doors will be
labeled accordingly.
Catering
Player and Coach Catering
Players and coaches will receive a food token. This will be handed out to the clubs at registration so that
they can eat whenever it fits in with their schedule. Each token will allow a burger from the BBQ and a
drink.
Visitor Catering
A BBQ, hot and cold drinks and snacks, including home baking and soup will be on sale during the event
within the tea tent, which will be located within the car park area.
Registration
Registration will take place between 10:15 to 10:45am. Only club officials are asked to go to the
Registration tent, this will be signposted. And is the purple Kinross RFC gazebo. It will be located at the
corner of the astroturf pitch.
Please ensure the maximum squad numbers are complied with.
First Aid
Kinross RFC will have first aid kits and St Andrew’s Ambulance will be in support, however due to the
number of children present we kindly ask that visiting clubs bring their own first aid kits also.
Matches
There will be 8 pitches, 2 for each age group.
Due to the limited pitch space at Kinross RFC, the P7 and P6 pitches will be as per SRU recommended
sizes, but P5 and P4 pitches will be reduced slightly.
There will be 4 points for a win, 2 points for a draw, 1 for a loss.
Please let us know as soon as possible if you need to withdraw a team at any particular age.
Matches will start on all pitches at 11:00am sharp. Please make every effort to have your teams present
and ready to play when scheduled. This will help us keep things moving and prevent players having to
play matches without a break.
Matches will be 10 minutes long, with no half time. There will be 5 minutes between matches. It is the
team’s responsibility to be present and ready to play. Teams will not generally play two games in a row,
(allowing a 15 min break between matches), but of course this may not be possible at each age. All
teams will play a minimum of 5 matches.
In the event of a tie, the following tie breakers will apply in this order:
1. Result between the tied teams
2. Most tries scored in all group games
3. Least tries conceded in all group games
4. Toss a coin
Age Grade Law Variations
All games will be played under the current Age Grade Law Variations as issued by the SRU. The Age
Grade Law Variations booklet should be available to all coaches through your own Development Officer.
A discussion between all game coaches at each age level should be held before first matches commence,
to ensure continuity of applications of the laws.
Referees
Visiting clubs are asked to provide a referee / game coach at each age group. Please bring whistles with
you. There will be a referee briefing at 10.45am from the Kinross Development officer adjacent to the
scoring tent.
Code of Conduct
We require all clubs to sign up that they will do their best to ensure that their coaches, players, and
supporters comply with the SRU code of conduct. This is attached. Basically we want coaches and
supporters to support the referee / game coach and understand that their job is not easy. Constant
criticism from the sidelines is destructive and a bad example for the players.
Prizegiving
The awards will be presented at the end of the event. Winners and runners up will receive a medal and
trophies will be awarded to the winners of the 4 age groups.
Directions
The parking at the rugby club will be closed for the event, so we have asked permission to use a field
nearby for the day (won’t be used if weather is wet), this is 150 yards towards the town from the rugby
club and can be accessed via the entrance to the Windlestrae Hotel. There will be people there to help
direct you to the rugby club after parking. If the weather has been wet we may decide not to use the field
in case anyone gets stuck, in which case there are other parking areas marked on the map below. We
would ask that you to use car parks in the first instance and then if necessary on the streets. If you do
choose to park on the street please be considerate of the local residents, and please advise your parents
to park sensibly as there have been problems in the past and the police will uplift vehicles. Springfield
Road will be fully lined with traffic cones. Please pass parking arrangements onto your parents.
There is no parking charge.
Clubs with a large bus can drop players off at the club and then park some 200 yards further down the
road at the widening of the road at Windlestrae hotel.
