Slow start to festival, but undefeated overall for the P4's

The Mackie Minis travelled north up to Ellon on a bright sunny Sunday morning.

The event that got everyone travelling early this week was the latest Ellon Minis festival with local NE rivals Ellon, Aberdeen Grammar and Aberdeen Wanderers. Unfortunately Wanderers couldn't field a P4 team so the boys ran out against 2 Grammar and 1 Ellon teams to try to get some much needed match practice before the winter closes in and curtails such activities for a few months.

Fresh back from half term holidays meant a slow start from the Mackie youngsters that initially forgot most of the rucking and raptor skills that were being so effectively deployed last time out in Kinross. However, over the course of the morning the boys got better and better, remembering their drills and skills and putting them to good use to run out narrowly undefeated all morning but making hard work of it along the way. Ellon as always provided well organised and well drilled opposition and Grammar are always physically strong and quick so all in all not a bad mornings work by the P4's.

Thanks as always go to our friends at Ellon RFC for their hospitality and organisation of a great morning's rugby.
