Mackie S1s / S2s Vrs Lathallan

It was a great morning for a game of rugby, prior to kick off it was decided between both teams that we would play a fifteen a side game to give all the boys as much game time as possible. As per normal the game started off very slowly with both teams looking for the upper hand. The deadlock was broken by Max Nehring scoring his first try for Mackie. It didn’t take Lathallan long to strike back with an excellent solo effort from their inside center. Who was the visiting teams main attacking force scoring all their tries, and he also didn’t do too badly in defence either, repeatedly making the tackle. turning over the ball, thus turning defence into attack.
This was the first real opportunity for the mixed S1/S2 squads to play together and it was good to see that the S1 boys stepped up to the mark and made an impact on the game, and also contributing to the score sheet . With some stunning runs down the wing from Logan and tries from James Cochrane and Mathew Buchanan.
I must also mention the newer S2 players who have been improving steadily with every game they play. Dominic who was making more telling tackles and also scrummaged well, Andrew who has slotted in well at scrumhalf , and Max who played his first game at outside centre and got himself a couple of tries. There is still a lot of basics to work on but the future is looking good.
On a lighter note I been given many thing as a player and coach during my rugby career , but never a tooth, which I received from Fin Jacobs at half time.
