Basic repeating annual costs to provide rugby for all sections are in excess of £40,000 for Mackie Academy FP RFC

"The Club is in danger of running out of money."
- Mark Williams Vice-President Season 2015/16

This covers

  • MAFPRFC Development Officer wages and expenses
  • Hiring of 3G pitch and Mackie Academy facilities for winter training
  • Buses and other transport costs
  • Uplifted Insurance Cover for all players and club officials
  • Redcloak utilities bills
  • Laundry

As explained by the outgoing Executive Committee at the Extraordinary General Meeting in April 2016 the Club has been running at a deficit for a number of seasons now. The figures quoted were quite worrying and as a priority the new Executive Committee voted in at the 2016 AGM in June have been looking at options around these costs whilst also attempting to deliver the new facilities at Redcloak where a large amount of Capital Expenditure had already been paid out to buy the second-hand container units.
As some will have noticed the new units have been installed, refurbished and are now up and running. In addition, the final touches are being applied to the new Clubrooms (old changing facilities gutted and renovated) which we hope you will soon be able to enjoy at upcoming league games. We also hope to have an extra large gathering of Club associates (from near and far) taking advantage of these new facilities to enjoy hot food and drinks at the Traditional Boxing Day Captains v Presidents fixture.
The current underlying economic picture in the North East means that availability of Sponsorship is very limited and although we have been very fortunate to retain some income from generous benefactors we continue to predict a tight financial environment to work within for at least the remainder of this season and the 2017/18 season.
With this in mind, we continue to look to draw upon all expertise within the wider membership of the Club whether it be utilising contacts in trades or simply picking up a paint brush and doing a few hours painting in a fun and friendly atmosphere.

Another work session is planned for this Sunday (13th November) from 9am onwards – if you are available please feel free to join us up at Redcloak.
