Mackie RFC Appoint New Development Officer

Alex 'Bev' Beveridge has joined the club as our Rugby Development Officer.

Originally from Selkirk - Bev has spent a number of years working and playing rugby ( and cricket ) south of the border.

Joining the club Bev brings a real wealth of experience and knowledge on and off the pitch delivering not just rugby but netball, cricket and is a qualified ref.

Although his rugby experience has been gained playing both 15 aside and 7s in Scotland, England and in Qatar, he brings a wealth of experience in Women's and Girls coaching.

Bev's remit at the club will be aligned primarily to school rugby development within our catchment area of Mackie, Portlethen and Mearns. He will also look to enhance the clubs Academy Programme for our U13's 14s and 15s by working with Mitch and our Youth Coaches. Another area for his focus will be as the main coach for the Youth Girls section (S1 to S6) - which he is looking to get back on track first week after the Easter Break.

I'm certain that he will be a welcome addition to the club and help us growing the player base and in delivering rugby into schools and our wider community.

Look out for his regular Dev Officer updates.

Key National Themes
We at Mackie RFC are also committed to following the SRU's Key National Themes (available to download on next page). The Key National Themes are the basics to play competitive rugby. Scottish Rugby would like to see all players being coached in these. As Scotland isn't known for producing the biggest players, we are trying to build the most skillful.

If you want any help or ideas, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Coaching Opportunities

If you would like to help out or coach at any level of Scottish rugby, then you must have completed the IRB RUGBY READY qualification.

All coaches, referees and teachers are now required to complete the IRB RugbyReady Practical qualification. This covers correct technique, physical preparation, injury prevention and injury management.

For information on gaining your 'rugby Ready' status, please contact Alex at: TBC
